This guide can help you set up your Brick.
Bricking without the device
You can Brick without the device if you hold down on the Brick icon in the app for 5 seconds.
Using or resetting Emergency Unbricks
Brick offers 5 emergency unbricks to unlock the phone if you need immediate access. These can be accessed through 'Settings' in the app and pressing the “Use An Emergency Unbrick” button when Brick is activated. If you would like to reset your Emergency Unbricks, please reach out to hello@getbrick.app for assistance.
Using Greyscale with Brick
This guide can you help you set up a shortcut to use greyscale with Brick.
Apps not blocking correctly
All of my apps aren’t blocking correctly
1. Screen Time Access Check: Navigate to Screen Time Settings and ensure Brick has access to screen time (Settings -> Screen Time -> Toggle Brick to Allow Screen Time)
2. Passcode Check: Ensure you have a passcode on your phone (Settings -> Face ID & Passcode -> Add Passcode)
3. Check iOS Compatibility: Check if you're operating on iOS 16.2 or above and update if needed (Settings -> General -> About -> iOS Version)
4. Confirm Screen Time is turned on in your Settings: If it isn't, try deleting Brick, turning on Screen Time in your settings, and re-downloading Brick (Settings -> Screen Time)
5. Confirm you are connected to wi-fi or cellular: To start a Brick session, you must be connected to the internet. (Settings -> Wi-Fi, Settings -> Cellular -> Cellular Data on)
Some of my apps aren't blocking correctly
- For all apps: Turn off active app limits for the best Brick experience. Changes may take a few hours (Settings -> Screen Time -> App Limits -> Remove)
- Messages, FaceTime, Maps: Remove from Always Allowed list, alongside any other apps you hope to block (Settings -> Screen Time -> Always Allow -> Remove)
- Safari: Update to latest Brick version and use Block mode. We are actively working on blocking Safari in Allow.
- Files, Find My, Clock, Wallet, Fitness: Use Block mode to Brick. If you want to block in Allow mode, use the Shortcut linked here.
- Settings, Home, Health, Magnifier, Compass, Watch: Add a Shortcut to Brick in Block or Allow mode using Shortcut linked here.
Troubleshooting
App Picker crashing
We are working with Apple to improve how iOS manages the app selection screen. A few workarounds that can help:
- Close any open categories and only keep one category open at a time
- Search apps by typing or pasting in app titles from Notes app
- Use the voice search option in the search bar (if available)
- Force quit the Brick app and retry selection
- Update the Brick app and retry selection

50 app limit
Apple’s App Selection Screen has a 50 app limit. The best way to avoid this trouble is to switch between block and allow lists if you’re reaching the limit. Using the Allow List is best if you only want a few apps to be allowed, and opposite for Block List.
Device not scanning - Ready to Scan appears
Please email hello@getbrick.app so we can help solve the specific situation. Completing the following and share results with our support team can help offer a quick resolution:
- Send your order # or email you ordered the Brick with
- Download the NFC Tools app and send a screenshot of the result after you try to scan the Brick
- If the NFC Tools app does not detect the Brick and you have another phone available, try scanning the Brick with the NFC Tools app and sending us the result. No worries if no other phone is available, this step acts as a double check so we can confirm best steps.
Device not scanning - Ready to Scan does not appear
This typically results from a sync issue between iOS and Brick. Below are steps to help solve:
- Force quit the Brick app and try to scan again
- Restart the phone and try to scan again
- Update Brick and iOS versions
Changing Brick Strictness
Strict mode
Prevents users from deleting the app. Strict Mode can be activated in 'Settings' and toggling on ‘Strict Mode’.
Emergency Unbricks
Brick offers 5 emergency unbricks to unlock the phone if you need immediate access. These can be accessed through 'Settings' and pressing the “Use An Emergency Unbrick” button when Brick is activated. Blocking Screen Time Settings
This guide can help you block Settings if you’re looking to avoid accessing Screen Time Settings when you are using Brick.

Cancellations
Please cancel your order in the order actions of your confirmation page or email. If the order has been shipped and the system will not let you cancel, please email hello@getbrick.app.

Please use the order actions in your confirmation page or email to cancel and resubmit your order with the correct address. If the order has been shipped and the system will not let you cancel, please email hello@getbrick.app.
Return policy
We want you to be completely satisfied with your Brick purchase. If for any reason you are not happy with your product, you can return it within 30 days of the delivery date for a full refund. Customers returning after 30 days of the delivery date will be responsible for return shipping and handling costs.
Return Guidelines:
- Eligibility: Items must be returned within 30 days of delivery.
- Condition: Please ensure that the product is in its original condition and packaging. Any accessories or included items must be returned as well.
- Refund Process: Once we receive your returned item, we will inspect it. If it meets our return criteria, we will issue a full refund to your original payment method within 5-7 business days.
How to Start a Return:
- Contact our support team at hello@getbrick.app to initiate your return.
- Provide your order number and the reason for the return.
- We will provide instructions on how to ship the item back to us.
